  145. <p><strong>Amaya</strong> is a Web client that acts both as a browser and as
  146. an authoring tool. It has been designed by the <a
  147. href="http://www.w3.org/">World Wide Web Consortium <acronym

  149. purpose of demonstrating new Web technologies in a What You See Is What You

  166. <p>With Amaya, you can manipulate rich Web pages containing forms, tables,
  167. and the most advanced features from <acronym
  168. title="Hypertext Markup Language">HTML</acronym>. You can create and edit
  169. complex <a href="../doc/html/Math.html">mathematical expressions</a> and
  170. simple <a href="../doc/html/SVG.html"><acronym
  171. title="Scalable Vector Graphics">SVG</acronym> graphics</a> within Web pages.
  172. You can style your documents using Cascading Style Sheets. You can publish
  173. <acronym title="Hypertext Markup Language">HTML</acronym>, <acronym
  174. title="Extensible Hypertext Markup Language">XHTML</acronym>, <acronym
  175. title="Mathematical Markup Language">MathML</acronym>, and <acronym
  176. title="Scalable Vector Graphics">SVG</acronym> documents on local or remote
  177. servers through <acronym title="Hypertext Transfer Protocol">HTTP</acronym>.

  184. <p>Browsing and authoring are integrated seamlessly. You can browse and edit
  185. Web pages at the same time. To make editing easier, a simple click in Amaya
  186. moves the caret and allows text input; to follow a link, you have to double
  187. click. This behavior can be changed as well as many other features using the
  188. Special/Preferences menu.</p>

  195. Annotations are external comments, notes, remarks that can be attached to any
  196. Web document or a selected part of the document. Annotations are stored
  197. either in the local file system or on publically-accessible annotation
  198. servers. The creation of annotations on a document does not modify the
